Update on My Blog Traffic
I had a pretty substantial bump in blog traffic in the past 24 hours.
You might remember from my previous post (How much money can you make with social media?), I typically average roughly 1000 views a day. Most of it’s from my social media platforms, with Instagram being the biggest contributor, by a wide margin.
I attribute this big bump to my cash give-away. Because of its popularity, it’s become a staple on my Instagram and Youtube. What rational person would say no to a mind-numbingly easy, zero-risk, chance of winning free money right?

There were a few surprising things though:
First, my search engine referrals rose quite a bit. It’s usually fairly non-existent, so it’s nice to see an increase in that area because it should bump up my rankings with Google’s search results. Even just last week, if I typed in (Tub of Cash, or tubofcash in Google, nothing came up).
Also, Twitter did surprisingly well from a traffic standpoint; given that, from my personal experience, Twitter has been dying. Audience engagement is notoriously bad on both Twitter and Facebook (audience engagement is the worst on Facebook).
I think that with Facebook, it’s because everything you like is broadcasted to your entire social network, which these days includes your parents, grandparents, church members, friends, and co-workers.
So a bit of a tangent but I can see that being a big hindrance to Facebook’s marketability and ad revenue potential. It’s just very intrusive that way, when one’s privacy is concerned. That said, it’s nice to see the incoming traffic to my blog from Facebook.
Instagram has always been the biggest contributor from the get-go so no surprises there.
Fellow PF bloggers, care to share where you’ve had the most success generating traffic to your blog?
Let me know if you have any tips! By the way, Pinterest is on my radar. Just haven’t gotten around to it.
